The Total Rate includes all applicable taxes, standard fees, travel insurance, pet fee (if property is pet-friendly) and a non-refundable $50 Reservation Fee. Linens and towels are also included, and standard beds are made for your arrival. The travel insurance and pet fee (if not traveling with your pup) are optional and can be removed during the reservation process.

Bay Paradise

"We try to visit Galveston every summer and have rented a number of different properties in the last decade. This is our current favorite. There is a lot to like about this place. Too many of the rental houses are not well set up for extended stays. For example, the kitchens have limited storage and the basics but not enough to really plan to cook extensive meals like you might on an extended stay. Not the case - the kitchen was solidly equipped and had enough cabinet space to allow us to stock the pantry without having bags of food in odd places. They even had a Keurig - made my morning great. Another problem with a lot of houses is that they stick beds wherever possible and the family and - dining spaces end being very limited. The dining table easily can seat 8 and the living room allows for a nice visiting space and relaxing space. The house sleeps 6 (7 of you put a kid on the sofa in the sitting area in the master bedroom and the rest of the house allows you to have six or seven people in it without feeling squeezed. I prefer the bay because of the sunsets and the opportunity to use our paddle boards and sunfish as well as fish. The beach is really close and anyone can go to the beach but the bay is a lot more private and when you have your own dock the possibilities are amazing. You need the well equipped kitchen because you could probably eat fish every meal you are at Sunset Pier since they are so abundant in the bay and just jump on your hook when you turn the light on in the evening. Did I forget to mention the crabs? We bought a crab trap and kept it baited with the carcasses from the fish we caught. We had more blue crabs than we could eat and it seems like every night there were a couple of stone crabs with legal size right claws in the trap. As a matter of fact - the last night we were there we caught six more trout and cleaned those and brought them home with us. I have never before rented a golf cart. This year we rented one from RIcks Beach Rentals. It was great to have that to zip over to the beach without even bothering to think about the sand in the car etc. The fishing was so great that one night we ran out of bait about midnight and so I nervously went to the Rusty Hook Bait Shop on second street (in my golf cart). They advertise that they are open 24 hours but it means you are waking someone up. Gosh those folks were really nice and they assured me that if the fish are biting in the bay come any time - so I made more than one after midnight run - either to get more bait, ice for the fish or to get some tackle. The Sunsets from the Pier were awesome and we had easy beach access but had the benefits of being on the bay. One cautionary note. I knew you have to be careful in the bay since I am from the area. We landed two different stingrays when we had a line between our dock and the neighbors. The water is shallow but it really is not a place for playing around with that many stingrays. If you have younger kids it is not a place to let them frolic in the water. When we first got there I was disappointed that the dock did not have a ladder to allow us to get in and out of the water and I was thinking about jury-rigging something. After we caught the first sting ray I understood why there are no swim ladders on the houses in that particular stretch of the bay. The second one caught just a few nights later confirmed that. It was great for paddle boarding but not for just splashing around. (I caught a drum fishing from my paddle board right off Bird Island - unfortunately it was only 19 inches so it went back.) "

"Great place to rent for a long weekend, if you're prepared to bring a lot of things with you, Lack of cooking amenities made cooking in the kitchen almost impossible!!! No measuring cups, mixing/storage bowls caused us to head to town often to pick up these things. Also, no hair dryer in either bathroom, make sure and bring your own. "

"Sunset Pier is exactly that...Sunset Pier! The view of the bay at sunset is absolutely breathtaking. Don't worry about trying to find a breeze because it is definitely arrid. Crabbing and fishing was amazing, if you're lucky enough you'll luck up on some of EVERYTHING within feet of the backdoor. Comfort level was a total 10. Spacious rooms with closet and draw access to turn this home into your home away from home..."

The explosion of color in the sky and reflecting on the water as the sun drops out of site can be viewed from inside, from the spacious upper deck and from the pier. "Overall this property was fantastic. The home was very comfortable, the views of the bay were amazing, fishing was great, caught well over 100 fish including flounder, stingray, red fish, catfish, and crab. Sunsets were amazing. The dolphins came right up to the fishing pier early morning. We were looking for a place to escape from daily stress of work, to relax and rest and this home was definitely the perfect place to do that. For a group of older adults who enjoy peace and solitude, beautiful views, fishing and just relaxing, this is the perfect property. We are already planning our next visit and hope to come two or three times a year."

"Above the best! We have rented many, many beach and bay houses in the past. This one, by far, is the best and has exceeded our every expectation! Very modern with big, flat screen tvs in the bedrooms and living room, strong wifi, surround sound...The location is amazing too - so quiet. And the fishing! Right off of the pier we have caught at least 150 fish (always practiced catch and release). :) We cannot wait to come back this summer!!!"
