What time is check-in?
During peak season check-in is between 4pm and 6pm.
During mid and low seasons check-in is between 3pm and 5pm.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is at 10am for every season.
Are there a minimum number of nights required for my stay?
During peak season there is a seven night minimum for all of our rental homes.
During mid and low season the minimum stay is two nights except for the following holidays: Spring Break (7 nights), Thanksgiving (4 nights), Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas, and New Year's (3 nights).
How can I pay my deposit?
If check-in is within 30 days of your booking date then the full amount is due by credit card within 24 hours of booking.
If check-in is more than 30 days from your booking date, your signed paperwork and advance payment (approximately 50% of the rental fee, plus the non-refundable reservation fee, and optional Travel Insurance premium) must be received within three days of the booking date. Submit your paperwork and payment via Guest Web.
Who can check in?
The Leaseholder must be present at check-in.
Can I pick up keys early?
A Rental Agent will call the cell phone number you provided during the reservation process to let you know if early check-in is possible for your property.
How can I check in after hours?
Check-in MUST occur before 6pm during peak season and before 5pm in mid & low seasons. If you are not able to arrive before that time you are welcome to check in the following morning at 9am. Speak with a Rental Agent PRIOR to your arrival day with any concerns you may have about this.
What are the check-out procedures?
Bag all of your trash and place it in the outdoor bins at your property. Wash all of the dishes and put them away - breakfast dishes on your checkout day can be placed in the dishwasher as long as you start the wash cycle prior to your departure. Turn off all small appliances. Shut the storm shutters and lock all of the doors. Return your keys to the rental office by 10am.
What is a security deposit?
A security deposit is an additional cash deposit that is due at check-in. During the months of April and May ALL of our rentals require a security deposit. A security deposit can also be added at the discretion of our broker. This deposit is payable by CASH only and is due in full at check-in. Our Rental Agents are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Can I bring my dog with me if I crate him outside?
Our pet friendly properties are the only homes that allow dogs on the premises.
Can I bring my declawed cat with me?
We only allow dogs (up to two) at our pet friendly properties.
Can I get housekeeping during my stay?
You are able to arrange for housekeeping or a new set of linens during your stay. This must be arranged with a Rental Agent prior to your check-in day. Fees for these services vary.
Does the property have internet?
Some of our vacation homes do have internet in the home. Check with a Rental Agent regarding your property's amenities.
If your property does not have internet access, visit our office; we have free wireless internet available. The office is open daily from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Will the house have a fill-in-the-blank?
Standard amenities at each of our homes include: coffee pot, blender, microwave, charcoal grill, dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, and pans.
Is there a BBQ pit or grill available at the property?
Yes, each property has a charcoal grill. The guest is responsible for bringing charcoal and lighter fluid.
Where is there a swimming pool?
Several rental properties allow access the Galveston Country Club; check the 'Amenities & Beds' tab on the property page to verify if your home offers access to the Country Club.
If the home you are staying at offers access to the Galveston Country Club, your name and rental dates will be given to the Galveston Country Club, and they will allow access to the 18-hole golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts and dining facilities during your stay.
Sea Isle guests have access to the Sea Isle neighborhood pool. Purchase a pool pass at the Sand `N Sea office for $50 cash. This pass covers everyone in your group for the length of your stay.
Playa San Luis has a neighborhood pool on the north side of FM3005. Call a Rental Agent for access information.
Pointe West has two pools within its development. Take a copy of your Sand `N Sea lease agreement to the Pointe West office during their business hours to obtain pass code information for their facilities.
NOTE: Pool access is limited to the homes located in that specific neighborhood and is subject to seasonal closings. All pool fees are at the discretion of the Country Club or subdivisions and are subject to change without notice.
Can I order a Pay-Per-View movie or fight?
Call and speak with a Rental Agent about your property's access to this service prior to check-in.
Do I have access to the garage?
Garages are locked and not available for guest use. You are welcome to park any extra vehicles at the Sand `N Sea office.
Where can I park my boat/RV/trailer?
Neighborhood association rules prohibit parking these types of vehicles at the property or along the neighborhood roads. Guests are welcome to park any type of trailer or extra vehicle at our office by Pirates Beach.
There is a lot of garbage at the property. What can be done about it?
The City picks up garbage on Mondays. If there is an excess of garbage please call the Sand `N Sea Office to arrange for trash relief.
How often is the seaweed on the beach cleaned up?
Each neighborhood association is responsible for the seaweed cleaning policy in its subdivsion. If they choose, they can get a permit from the State and City, and then they can arrange to have the seaweed raked to the toe of the dunes. Cleaning schedules vary according to resources, equipment, tides and weather. Please keep in mind that each tide can bring more sargassum to shore. For a list of neighborhoods participating in the cleanup, please contact the Sand 'N Sea office.
Are the mosquitoes a problem?
Unfortunately, mosquitoes are a part of Gulf coast living. The County maintains a regular spraying schedule but we always recommend bringing bug spray with DEET to ensure your comfort while outdoors.
Are there snakes on Galveston Island?
Yes, there are. Rattlesnakes share our island with us, and there have been several sightings of rattlesnakes near or on dunes. Take care when using dune crossovers or when walking on grasses near the beach. Keep an eye on children and pets.
Who takes care of the dunes and can the vegetation on them be cut?
Dunes are important barriers for storms and high tides, and they are protected by State and local laws. Cutting vegetation, walking on or driving ATV's or golf carts on them is prohibited by law.
Where is the closest emergency room/urgent care?
West Isle Urgent Care and Pediatric Urgent Care are both located at 2027 61st Street. The Pediatric Urgent Care can be reached at 409-744-5437 and the West Isle Urgent Care can be reached at 409-744-9800. Also, UTMB has a full emergency room; it's located at 5th and Harborside.
What do I do if there are people parking illegally near my house, if there is a loud party nearby or if have a security problem? Call our Security Officer at 409-682-3603 at any time of the day or night - 24/7.
My car was broken in to. Who do I call?
The Galveston Police Department can be reached at 409-765-3702. Also, please call the office and let us know.
Where is the closest grocery store?
The largest groceries are Kroger's and Wal-Mart and both are located on Seawall Blvd just east of 81st Street. There are several smaller groceries and conveniences stores scattered along the West End including Seven Seas Grocery in Sea Isle and Hummell's in Pirates Beach.
Where is there a public boat launch?
There is access just west of the Galveston Country Club on Stewart Road as well as in Sea Isle at the West End Marina.
Where can I buy bait?
You can find bait and supplies at the West End Marina in Sea Isle or just past Terramar Beach at the Rusty Hook.
Can I have a fire on the beach?
No. State regulations prohibit fires on any public beach on the island.
Where can I rent a Jet Ski or a golf cart?
Rick's Beach Rentals rents this type of equipment and can be reached at 409-632-0256 or 409-939-7824. They can also be found online at www.waterboyrentals.com. Pick-up and delivery of your rental equipment are available.
Where is a good place to eat?
A list of Galveston Island restaurants will be in your check-in bag as well as in the Guest Binder in your vacation home. Call a rental agent for more information or for specific recommendations.
What are some kid-friendly activities?
Afraid they will get tired of the sand and sun? There are plenty of activities for adults and children of all ages on Galveston Island. Here are few suggestions: Moody Gardens (Aquarium, Rainforest, and an IMAX theater), Schliltterbahn Waterpark, Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum, Texas Seaport Museum featuring the Tall Ship Elissa, Lonestar Flight Museum, and Magic Carpet Gulf (putt putt golf located on Seawall Blvd).
Where can I have my wedding on the beach?
We are happy to have members of the wedding party and guests and relatives stay at our vacation homes. However, functions are not allowed to be held at any of our properties - including weddings, receptions, bachelor/bachelorette parties. There are plenty of vendors on the island who would love to help make your wedding a day to remember. A simple internet search for "Galveston Weddings" will provide you with some helpful information.
Office Amenities/Shipping Information
How can I have a package mailed to me while on vacation?
UPS or FedEx packages should be addressed: Guest name/house name, c/o Sand `N Sea Properties, 13706 FM 3005, Galveston TX 77554.
U.S. Mail packages should be addressed: Guest name/house name, c/o Sand `N Sea Properties, 4127 Pirates Beach, Galveston TX 77554.
NOTE: We are not able to accept C.O.D. or postage due packages.
Where is the closest Post Office?
5826 Broadway- about 9 miles from the Sand `N Sea Office.
How can I print a document/send a fax/receive a fax?
All of our guests are welcome to print from the guest computer in our lobby during normal business hours.
Faxes can be sent or received at the rental department (409-737-5168) at no charge. Please make sure your name, the property name, and your contact number are included on any faxes sent to the office.
After Your Stay
I forgot my fill-in-the-blank at the property when we checked out. How can I get it back?
Please call the rental department as soon as possible to report the details of your lost item. Have available: what dates and which property you stayed in, where in the property the item was left, and a description of the item. If your item is found, you will be notified by phone and you will be responsible for arranging a prepaid pickup through UPS or FedEx within 14 days.
Can I book the same house for next year?
Absolutely! An Advanced Reservation fee of $100 holds the dates and property until January, when the full contract will be emailed to you.
If you are making a reservation for peak season, the guests that are staying in that property this year have the first opportunity to book a return reservation for the next year. Our rental agents would be happy to book an Advanced Reservation for you if we are past those dates year. Call a Rental Agent with any questions you may have.
Do I get any type of discount or reward for staying with you each year?
Yes! We have a return renter reward program call Guest Loyalty Program which allows you to accumulate points towards a free two night stay each time you stay at one of our vacation properties..
How can I get Guest Advantage credit for the stay I just had?
Email your request to email@example.com. Please provide: your Guest Advantage number, property name and dates of stay, name the reservation was under, and your address. A rental agent will confirm the stay and credit your account. You will receive an email confirmation once that has been completed.
